After concluding his professional basketball career, Joe transitioned seamlessly into the business world, leveraging his strategic insight into real estate investment and corporate finance. He founded SDI Mortgage in Houston, rapidly building the firm to achieve over $50 million a year in loan production before successfully negotiating its sale to Liberty Bank and Trust in 2007.

Today, Joe leverages this extensive financial and corporate background to protect his clients. As an experienced business owner with over 20 years of insight into the insurance industry, he knows exactly how insurance companies think, calculate risk, and attempt to minimize payouts to injury victims.

Judicial Service & Community Leadership

Joe’s commitment to public service began in 2009 with his election to the Galena Park Independent School District Board of Trustees, where he served for nine years helping shape educational opportunities for the local community.

In 2016, his dedication to justice led to his election as Justice of the Peace for Harris County Precinct 3, Place 1, a judicial role he continues to serve with integrity and a commitment to fair, impartial leadership.

From the Basketball Court to the Courtroom

Raised in East Houston, Joe Stephens’ roots run deep in the community he proudly serves today. He attended Galena Park schools before graduating from North Shore High School in 1991.

An accomplished athlete, Joe earned a full basketball scholarship before playing collegiate basketball and later competing professionally in Europe for six years. The discipline, teamwork, and perseverance he developed through athletics continue to shape the way he prepares every case and advocates for his clients.
